trying to cook bagels...

what a mess!!!! I was trying to cook some bagels and this is the result!! I had a recipe taken from a magazine, but halfway through it I realised it wasn't going to work, so I checked the Internet, found another recipe and went on cooking with it! So I kind of knew it was going to be a mess, but I wanted to try anyway!
They do look awful, but don't taste that bad, really... Luca is actually eating them... But still!

My plan was to practice today, and cook them on Xmas day, to eat them at breakfast with scrumble eggs and smoked salmon... and of course, bagels DO NOT EXIST in Italy, so either I find another recipe or I better forget it! My auntie Danila just gave me an American one on the phone, we'll see if I feel like trying again during the week!


Queste schifezze sono bagels! O meglio dovrebbero esserlo, ma non ci assomigliano lontanamente!! Dovrebbero essere ciambelle di pane leggermente dolce, che si usa farcire in UK e negli USA, con ripieni sia salati, sia dolci. L'idea era di fare una prova per poi cucinarle a Natale, per far colazione con uova strapazzate e salmone, visto che ai miei familiari piacciono molto! Purtroppo però, visto il risultato... Mia zia Danila mi ha appena dato un'altra ricetta al telefono, da un libro di ricette, credo inglese (o americano?), vediamo se ho voglia di riprovare in settimana!!!

why do I bother??? Is there anyone actually reading this blog???? (apart from Noriko...). Please, let me know!!!!
In the meantime, no good news I'm afraid. I just had a phone call from the airport and due to problems in Alitalia (who else?!??!) we won't be hired before next month. This is driving me crazy... I want to work!!!!! I'm going to the shopping center in the afternoon and see if I can find something to do for the Xmas season. It might be just a month, but better than nothing. More CVs to print out... I hoped I was over with that...
oh oh! I also have a wonderful news! My cousin Barbara gave birth 2 days ago to a sweet baby girl and named her Margherita (Daisy). Another woman in the family! YES! Girlpower! can't wait to see her photos! Unfortunately (for us, not for them) Barbara and Massimo live in Sardinia and I don't know when I'll finally be able to see them in person.

low....

I'm feeling low today. I went to the doc. and still, they don't know what I'm suffering of. I'm so tired, I wish I could feel better by just taking a pill or something, but it won't work. I'll have to undergo more (and more) exams and then... who knows... I just don't feel like hoping anymore. I wish I could live as if nothing was happening; I manage most of the time, but on other days... :(

I've had good news from the Airport. The course went fine, so I'll start working for them in a couple of weeks. Lookinf forward to it, but a bit scared too.

Adoro le case. Proprio mi piace guardare le case degli altri. Le ville, meglio se antiche, mi fanno impazzire. Non so cosa darei per vedere l'interno di alcune di esse. Questa è una delle più belle che io abbia mai visto e si trova in un piccolo paesino sul Lago di Como.
Quale sarà la sua storia? Quali i suoi segreti?
E perchè le case mi affascinano così? Cosa rappresenta la casa in psicologia?

I love houses, especially old ones. I'm intirgued by them, I wish I could visit them all and discover their secrets... I don't know what's the meaning of this obsession, though...
by the way, this one is in a small town on Como Lake.

Wow!!!

Wow!! sono davvero eccitata! Ho appena scoperto che la casa di mia zia a Londra verrà "utilizzata" per girare un film, ma non di qualche regista socnosciuto, qualcuno di famoso!!! Per cui per la teoria che in 6 passaggi è possibile dimostrare che tutti si conoscono al mondo, io in sei passaggi arrivo a... beh, con solo 5 arrivo a George Clooney... Non dico niente di più per salvaguardare la privacy di zia e zio, ma.... WOW!!!!!! C'ho vissuto anch'io in quella casa!!!!!

Today I'm v. excited! I just found out that my uncle and aunt's house in London will be used in a movie!! It's the first house I lived in when I moved to London and I'm telling you, it's weird to think that in a few months I will see it in a picture!! I'm not saying who's the director or the title of the movie, but it's not some unknown low-profile director, so I think there will be loads of talking about it.... will let you know everything once it's released, ok???
By the way, there's this theory that says that in only 6 steps you can prove that we all know each other in the world, well, today I can say I know George Clooney in only 5 steps!! Oh my....

And here we go with another cute little thing! She our precious jewel and here she is playing hide and seek behind a curtain with uncle Luca. She is almost 7 months old and already eats soups, fruits, etc. She's also starting to do Push Ups when laying in bed, she calls Mummy and is practicing her "ddddddaaaaa ddddyyyy dddaaaaa dyyyyy".
And, as you can see, she is a beauty.

Ecco Elena, la mia nipotina, in una foto scattata ieri. E' un terremoto, sempre pronta a giocare e ridere con tutti, ma con una certa predilizione per lo zio Luca, con lei nella foto.
Ormai ha quasi 7 mesi, ha cominciato a mangiare le pappine sia a pranzo che a cena, anche se non le piace molto la frutta, e si diverte ad alzarsi sulle braccia quando è a pancia in giù sul lettino o sul tappeto... inoltre già chiama la mamma e si sta esercitando per chiamare anche papà al piu presto!

Una bimba così fa venir voglia di averne una!!!

After the death of our two Canary birds more than a month ago, yesterday we finally found two replacements! They are beautiful and sweet, as you can see....
The male is on the left, with a lovely haircut, anD the female on the right, looking at the camera.... Haven't decided the names yet, any suggestions???

Ecco i nostri nuovi canarini! Li abbiamo comprati ieri a padova, ad una mostra ornitologica. Sono Gloster Corona, famosi per la frangetta molto anni 80... il maschio è quello a sinistra, la femmina a destra... non abbiamo ancora scelto i nomi, ogni suggerimento sarà ben accetto! (ad esclusione di Romeo e Giulietta... NON AZZARDATEVI!!!!)

Tarà!!!! Here I am in a picture you've probably already seen, taken 3 years ago, with my favourite author Jeffery Deaver. It was a special meeting and I still think of it with a (stupid) smile on my face. He's a great guy. And refused to dine with Angelina Jolie, which made me feel "WOW".

Annyway, this is just an introduction to yesterday story. I resigned from the Shoes shop. Hope you'll all be glad about it, I am!!!! I was offered an opportunity at Montichiari (Brescia) Airport, not as a check-in clerk, but working on the inside, at weight and balance. The job should be very interesting and stimulating; I'll first have to take a couple of courses and pass a couple of exams and I'm a bit nervous, but positive, though.
Why Mr. Deaver? Well, at the Shop they wouldn't allow me to send a fax to the Agency I'm working with at the moment, and I had to get out and send it from a newsagent. The line was busy, so I had to wait a couple of minutes and then... suddenly... in a corner... Death of a Blue Movie Star, a 1990 thriller by Deaver, basically impossible to find in Italy, 'cause the importer got bankrupt more or less 4 years ago... Also, it was never translated into Italian and I really wanted to read it...
Whoever has a perfect author will understand the feeling I had last night at opening the book... and it looks good so far...

Ieri mi son licenziata dal negozio di scarpe. Ahahhhhh! Libertà!!!! Mi hanno offerto formazione ed eventuale lavoro all'aeroporto di Brescia Montichiari, negli uffici dell'operativo, ovvero la gestione dell'aereomobile quando è a terra. Carico, scarico, bilanciamento, etc.
Comunque, dovevo mandare il fax con le dimissioni all'agenzia di lavoro interinale con la quale ero assunta e i miei superiori al negozio non mi hanno permesso di mandarlo da lì, così ho dovuto aspettare di andare in pausa e correre da un giornalaio per riuscire a spedirlo in giornata... Carini vero? Molto professionali...
Ma dal giornalaio ho trovato la magnifica sorpresa di un libro in inglese del mio autore preferito, Jeffery Deaver, con me nella foto, libro quasi impossibile da trovare perchè del 1990 e distribuito in Italia da un distributore di libri in lingua fallito qualche anno fa...
Come avere l'umore risollevato in un istante!!!! Non vedevo l'ora di tornare a casa per cominciarlo!!! e devo dire che sembra buono per ora...

Grazie a tutti per avermelo segnalato! Ho pensato tutta la notte al blog. Da un lato è una cosa straordinaria, io mi scateno qui in pieno stream of consciousness e chiunque abbia voglia di saperne di più di me può venire a curiosare; dall'altro sarebbe bello invece parlare con voi più regolarmente e vedervi e conoscervi di più di persona. Però alla fine siete tutti lontani, chi più chi meno, e quindi questo mi sembra possa essere un ottimo modo per almeno provare....


ah, comunicazione di servizio, ogni post sarà anche scritto in inglese, questo perchè vorrei raggiungere anche gli amici MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLTO lontani, vedi Xenia, Olga,Tatiana, Noriko, Rafael, le mie cugine etc. La parte in inglese NON sarà una traduzione esatta del testo italiano, per cui per chi volesse cimentarsi nell'impresa, potete sbirciare anche quella...
e ovviamente potete postare nella lingua che preferite!

Good morning my friends!!! I just realised I sent the wrong link to the blog to my Italian friends, hope I didn't do the same with the English speakers!!!!
I'm very excited by this new experience and I hope you'll all be. I thought this could be a good way to stay in touch with everyone around the world (literally!!!!). This is because I don't have much time to stay on the internet and send emails, but I want you to know that I always think of you!!!!! Of course it doesn't mean I won't be sending personal emails anymore, but if you don't hear from me for a while, you can pop in here and say hello.

Here we are!!! And here we go!!!!
First post on my new blog... don't know if I'll manage to make it work properly...
I feel a bit lonely, Luca's gone to Milan for the week and I know it'll be hard to get used to it. So I thought I could share my feelings with all my friends around the world and maybe make new ones!!!

Ecco il primo post del blog! Benvenuti! L'idea mi è venuta perchè mi sentivo un po' sola con Luca lontano e così... e visto che non sono molto precisa/brava a tenermi in contatto con gli amici, provo a farlo così, vedremo se funziona!!!!

Libro del giorno: Oceano Mare di Baricco. Vorrei sapere da chi l'ha letto che ne pensa... io sono rimasta un po' delusa. E' il primo e unico libro di Baricco che ho letto e...mmhh...
